History

OpusWA was founded in 2019 by Ian Westrip OAM and Dr Jocelyn Cullingford as a vehicle for promoting some of Perth's emerging operatic talent and for bringing classical music to a wider range of metropolitan and regional audiences.

Our performances range from the intense and dark opera The Rape of Lucretia by Benjamin Britten, through lighter-hearted events such as our Opera Galas, to the ecclesiatical masterpieces of Handel's Messiah and JS Bach's St John Passion as well as his St Matthew Passion (widely regarded as one of the greatest masterpieces of Baroque sacred music).  We have also presented semi-staged performances of Mozart's The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro.
