"The young choir of exquisite voices well blended and balanced, together with the excellent orchestra who played and accompanied so beautifully, produced a most memorable “ Messiah” performance.  One of the best I have ever heard."

I just wanted to send my congratulations on a wonderful concert on Sunday.  The quality of performance way exceeded my expectations and the sound in the Ballroom was superb.  The elegant restraint at the beginning of the second movement of the Emperor concerto was exquisite and brought tears to my eyes.  My thanks to you all.

"I wanted to thank you and OpusWA for bringing Handel's Messiah to us in Geraldton. The performance was beyond our expectations, and we are grateful to God and to you all for making it possible. The feedback has been hugely positive. Some people had never heard Messiah before and were blown away. For others it brought back memories of earlier times. Some said they had never "heard" the words before and were helped by having them on screen.I was personally encouraged to know that something like Messiah would come over so effectively in the Cathedral. It was a great way to bring the Christian gospel to all sorts of people in an attractive way. To have such a serviceable venue to work with is a great blessing. We pray the message will grow in many people's hearts, and that a harvest will result. I hope it was a joy to you to have done [it].Please accept our heartfelt gratitude."

"I should like to profoundly thank Ian and every member of the OpusWA Chorale and Orchestra...and I am confident that I speak for all members of the audience...for a scintillating afternoon of entertainment! The skill and professionalism of the Orchestra, the extraordinarily wonderful performances of the soloists and choir, and Ian’s warm and pleasant interaction with the audience...not to mention his masterful leadership of the whole performance....brought all of us a great deal of joy and an afternoon of delight as OpusWA sang and performed these gems and treasures from our wonderful classical music tradition. We are truly privileged, and you give us such delight, by making the effort to come and sing in Bunbury! Thank you all so much!!”

Music on the Terrace launches Government House Ballroom season with Opera Gala kaleidoscope of rising talents

A flurry of rising talent launched the Music on the Terrace season at Government House Ballroom with an Opera Gala on Sunday.Fifteen soloists and the OpusWA Arts Orchestra under artistic director Mark Coughlan’s baton reeled off a kaleidoscope of colour in favourite numbers each matched with a developing voice.Speed dating came to mind, though doomed to end in unrequited love — the life blood of opera.A drum roll as if for a magic trick opened the bill with Rossini’s Thieving Magpie Overture; brisk chords in the fanfare introduction testing the acoustic for a big band and an even bigger audience.  Lyrical dance and forceful blastissimo alternated before a race to the finish.READ MORE...
